Vaginal infections, also known as vaginitis, occur when there is an imbalance of bacteria, yeast, or other microorganisms in the vagina. Common causes include bacteria, fungi, viruses, and irritants.

TYPES OF VAGINAL INFECTIONS & TREATMENTS

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)

Symptoms:

  • Thin, gray or white vaginal discharge
  • Strong, fishy odor, especially after intercourse
  • Itching or burning sensation

Treatment:

  • Antibiotics (Metronidazole, Clindamycin, Tinidazole)
